Change Your Life with SuperFoods
At SuperFoodsRx, our distinct perspective on health, nutrition and lifestyle is firmly rooted in the very best, and most recent, science-based information and studies.
No trends, fads or fashions — only solid science.
We rely on the expertise of our Advisory Board to keep us on the straight and narrow when it comes to the healthfulness of everything posted on SuperFoodsRx.com.
Steve’s our world-renowned authority on the role of nutrition and lifestyle in the prevention of disease and optimizing health. He’s the author of five SuperFoodsRx books describing the scientific foundations of our philosophy including the New York Timesbestselling SuperFoodsRx, Fourteen Foods That Will Change Your Life. That’s the book that started the global superfoods nutrition movement.
With Steve’s guidance, we created the original SuperFoodsRx grouping of 25 foods crucial to optimum human health. A diet rich in these SuperFoods forms the central concept of our nutritional recommendations.
Steve is senior staff ophthalmologist at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, California, and a clinical assistant professor of ophthalmology at the University of California, San Diego. He’s a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine.
Lindsey is the newest member of our Advisory Board. Like Steve and Hugh, she has a real passion for communicating the role of nutrition and lifestyle in health promotion and disease prevention. Lindsey has a master’s degree in Public Health, she’s a Diplomate of the American Board of Integrative and Holistic Medicine and she’s board certified in Preventive Medicine. If you’re getting in to living a more healthful life you’ve probably read about the growing synthesis of modern medicine and traditional healing. Lindsey’s the professional embodiment of that new and exciting movement.
In her day job, treating patients living with chronic disease, nutrition and lifestyle are not after-thoughts, they’re central to helping her patients get well. She’s also our go-to expert on plant-based diets.
Hugh’s insights into the connections between nutrition, lifestyle, and diseases of the skin is foundational to all SuperFoodsRx dietary and lifestyle recommendations. In Hugh’s foreword to our best-selling book; SuperFoodsRx, Fourteen Foods That Will Change Your Life, he writes: “As the former CEO of the world-reknowned Scripps Clinic, I can state that physicians in all of our specialties are gaining in increasing awareness of the role that nutrition and foods play in the health of our patients…the important underlying concept of SuperFoodsRx – that certain foods can promote and enhance health – will be embraced by all healthcare professionals as well as the general public.”
Hugh is chairman of Mohs and dermatologic surgery at the respected Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, California. He is past president of the American College of Mohs Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology, a world-recognized expert in the diagnosis and treatment of all types of skin cancer and has performed more than 31,000 Mohs skin cancer surgeries.
It’s long been known that certain populations live considerably longer and healthier lives than others.
Sophisticated computer analysis has enabled researchers to determine which populations these are. Highly respected institutions, including the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, and the National Cancer Institute have looked at this data, which includes information on the foods eaten by these healthiest populations.
Superfoods show up over and over again in these diets. Taken together the scientific evidence showing how these foods can reduce the risk of cancer, heart disease and a slew of other maladies that lead to early death is overwhelming.
The SuperFoods are the unique standout foods that, when consumed individually or together, have the power to deliver significant health benefits over the lifetime of an individual.
First and foremost, SuperFoods are Whole Foods. While there will always be debate about the meaning of “whole foods,” we consider them foods that are unprocessed or minimally processed in such a way that none of their nutritional characteristics have been intentionally modified.
SuperFoods work together synergistically — that is, they produce better results when paired with other SuperFoods. These whole foods are complex, containing hundreds of unidentified compounds and nutrients. A growing body of research suggests that these nutrient-rich foods work best in concert with each other to promote good health.
We help break down that information for you.
A healthy diet is the essential core of a healthy life.
We all live busy, complicated lives. Nutrition recommendations that are complicated or challenging can’t become a regular part of our routine. “Diets” that forbid foods or make eating satisfying meals a challenge are counterproductive.
SuperFoodsRx is here to make it easy and fun to add SuperFoods into your and your family’s lives. We deliver engaging and informative information about how you can change your life through better natural nutrition. And soon, we will be launching an online marketplace of the healthiest, tastiest SuperFood products from specially selected and approved brands — all available for delivery straight to your doorstep.
Live longer and better with SuperFoodsRx.
