Cinnamon Maple Macadamias
These slightly gooey nuts make a great topping for oatmeal or yogurt.
Serves 10
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups macadamia nuts, coarsely chopped
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup maple syrup
Directions
Preheat the oven to 300 F. Toss the macadamias with the cinnamon. Spread on a foil-lined sheet pan. Bake until lightly golden and fragrant, about 20 to 25 minutes. Pour the syrup over the nuts and stir to combine. Bake for 5 minutes more, then cool on the sheet pan.
Why We Love It
You don’t need a ton of sugar, chemicals or processing to make a wonderful treat. We love mixing a little honey and vanilla into Greek yogurt, then topping with these sweet, sticky nuts after they have come out of the oven. The contrast between the warm nuts and cool, creamy yogurt makes it feel like you’re enjoying a truly decadent treat — and you are. But you’re also enjoying some great SuperFoods that are both delicious and good for you.
One word of warning: This Cinnamon Maple Macadamias recipe serves 10. Most people have the tendency to pile on the toppings when they hear they’re healthy, but too much of a SuperFood can still be a bad thing for your waistline. Make sure to measure out your portions when spooning them on so that you don’t overdo it.
