Baked Apple Delight
Most of us love dessert, and if there’s a way to enjoy a sweet treat that’s good for you, that’s a win-win. This healthy baked apple dessert fits the bill. While this Baked Apple Delight isn’t a breakfast substitute, every ingredient is a SuperFood. That means every indulgent bite is packed with SuperNutrients.
Servings: 1
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
Ingredients
1 medium apple, washed and cored
1 teaspoon honey
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
Wash and core the apple. Put the apple in an oven-safe dish and drizzle the honey, chopped walnuts, and dust the cinnamon over the apple. Bake in a preheated 350 F oven for about 30 minutes. Serve warm or cold.
Why We Love It
While most apple pie recipes are loaded with sugar, the subtle touch of honey allows the fruit’s own sweetness to emerge. Toasting the walnuts also brings out their rich, nutty flavor — which we seldom enjoy when we just munch on them out of the bag. Plus, the cinnamon ties everything together in a warm package.
For a little extra indulgence, add a small scoop of cold Greek yogurt mixed with a drop of vanilla and a small drizzle of honey. One bite, and you’ll be dreaming of this all night.
