Description
We tasted a lot of pasta sauces. We’re not kidding. A lot of pasta sauces. But before we tasted, we looked at them and smelled them. Immediately, the sauces from Cucina Antica stood out from the rest. They looked like pasta sauce should. They were bright in color and looked like fresh sauce. And that’s what they taste like too.
Cucina Antica’s Tomato Basil cooking sauce is made from San Marzano tomatoes (a SuperFood) which are known for being sweet and low-acidic. They add fresh onions (a SuperFood), extra virgin olive oil (a SuperFood), salt, basil, and white and black pepper (a SuperSidekick- see a trend here?). The one ingredient it doesn’t have? Sugar! So many pasta sauces contain sugar. We have no idea why. When you use great tomatoes why ruin a sauce, not to mention your health, with sugar?!?
This pasta sauce tastes fresh and bright and has small chunks of tomatoes. Each ½ cup serving has only 35 calories and 1.5 grams of fat and is full of important lycopene, which is rare in food. Lycopene is a powerful antioxidant that’s good for our eyes and skin, as well as men’s prostate health.
Tomatoes also are a good source of vitamin C, alpha- and beta-carotene, lutein/zeaxanthin, potassium, and B vitamins. In fact, you get 20 percent of your daily requirement of vitamin A and 10 percent of vitamin C in one ½ cup serving of this sauce. You won’t find any preservatives in this sauce and it’s non-GMO verified.
This sauce is not only good on pasta but try it on wild salmon or poultry.
