Description
We like this mix because the texture is light and has a small crumb texture making it a good base for adding any type of fruit and/or nuts you like. It’s made of finely ground organic barley flour and organic oat flour mixed with non-GMO baking powder and some baking soda. That’s it! You get to add some water, oil, honey and anything else you’d like.
Oats are one of the original SuperFoods and we encourage everyone to eat oats as often as possible. This mix is another great way to get oats into your diet.
Oats are so great because they’re low in calories and high in protein, fiber and essential vitamins such as magnesium, potassium, zinc and copper. Oats are also rich in phytonutrients and vitamin E. Oats are recognized by the FDA as effective in reducing LDL (bad) cholesterol levels which is very important. Barley is a SuperFood Sidekick to oats.
Barley is a good source of niacin, selenium, copper and zinc. It’s also a source of melatonin.
We use honey (LINK) as the sweetener and it makes them perfectly sweet and more moist. In a ¼ cup of dry mix you get 3 grams of fiber and 3 grams of protein.
SFRX Tip: Measure the oil first and then the honey when making these muffins. The oil will help the honey slide right out of the measuring cup.
