Description
It’s hard to find great corn popped in extra virgin olive oil. But Gary Poppins does it and it tastes great! The company uses non-GMO corn, which is mixed in small batches and packaged by hand. You’ll hear it from us all the time: We like simple, healthful products that are minimally processed. Gary Poppins popcorn is just that.
The popped kernels have a delicate texture and flavor with just hint of extra virgin olive oil. And they get the saltiness just right with the pink Himalayan sea salt*.
Cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil, one of the SuperFoods, has a high concentration of polyphenols and is a good source of vitamin E. Popcorn is low in calories and high in beneficial dietary fiber. Snacks high in fiber curb your appetite by increasing your gut’s productions of a hormone, cholecystokinin, which increases a sense of fullness.
Foods, like popcorn, that are composed of complex carbohydrates can boost serotonin levels in your body, which may help you relax and fall asleep easier. (Sarah, one of our team members, swears by it!) A single serving contains 2 grams of fiber, 2 grams of protein, and only 90 calories. That’s a healthful snack.
*Don’t get crazy about Himalayan sea salt. We don’t. Some foodies say it tastes better than regular table salt, and we think there’s truth to that. Mined rock salt from different areas has different trace elements and thus subtle flavor differences. In its rough, ground form it’s certainly prettier! But we find no evidence in serious nutritional and scientific literature it is healthier or more nutritious, in any measurable way, than table salt.
