Why buy pita crisps when you can make them yourself? These won’t be loaded with all that unnecessary oil and salt. And they’re simply delicious and perfect for dipping.
Serving Size: 4 crisps
Volume: 8 crisps
Prep Time: 1 minute
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 21 minutes
1 whole wheat pita (about 100 calories)
1/4 teaspoon salt
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Cut the pita into 4 wedges, then separate the top from the bottom to form 8 pieces. Place in a single layer on a jellyroll pan and spritz with water. From 8″ above, sprinkle the salt over all pieces. Bake 15 to 20 minutes, turning the pieces over once during baking. Cool on a wire rack.
Tip: An empty butter substitute spray bottle makes a handy water spritzer. Just wash out the container and the sprayer, and then fill the water. Test the sprayer until water runs clear and fresh. Label the bottle so there is no confusion.
Why We Love It
Pita crisps are much healthier than tortilla chips and they’re just as tasty and crunchy. These go great with any kind of dip or if you’re in the mood to indulge in cheese, the crisps pair well with any kind.
